“The Beginning of All Belarusian Roadways” Zero Kilometre Landmark – The starting point for measuring distances in all directions from our capital. The pyramid-shaped granite stone that symbolizes eternity and solidity was brought from Portugal. The sign is surrounded by bronze cartouches featuring Belarus’ roads map. The Latin saying Via est vita and Yakub Kolas’ verse. The sign’s bronze frame provides the distances from Minsk to the neighbouring countries’ capitals and Belarus’ regional and district centres. Maxim Bogdanovich Monument – created in 1981 by sculptor S.Vakar. Parizhskoi Kommuny Square (Near the Opera and Ballet Theatre).

Maxim Gorky Monument – located in the central Children’s Gorky Park. Metro: Oktyabrskaya/Kupalovskaya, Ploshchad Pobedy.

“Minsk-Hero City” Memorial Complex – The pinnacle of the composition is a 45m high banner-shaped obelisk. Near the obelisk’s foot there is a platform to lay down wreaths and flowers. To the right of the obelisk, there is a bronze statue of a woman – the generalized image of the motherland, a symbol of Victory and Glory. Sculptured by V. Zankovich, architected by V.Kramenko, V.Yevseyev and U.Romanenko. The monument was created in 1985. Pr. Pobediteley.

Stele In Ploshchad Pobedy (Victory Square) – The monument to soldiers and partisans was erected in 1954. A magnificent 40m high obelisk is faced with grey granite and topped with the Pobeda Order pattern. The four facets of the obelisk are decorated with bronze bas-relieves – 9 May, The Soviet Army in the Great Patriotic War Years, A Tribute to Killed Heroes and Partisans. The Eternal Flame burns in front of the monument. Metro: Ploshchad Pobedy.

Sculptures in The Yanka Kupala Park – a bronze statue of the poet is mounted on a granite pedestal. The Venok (Wreath) fountain is located not far from the main sculpture. The fountain composition includes two bronze figures of girls throwing the wreaths into the water on the Ivan Kupala holiday. The fountain was created in 1972 by sculptors A. Anikeichik, A. Zaspitsky and L. Gumilevsky and architects Y.Gradov and L.Levin. Yanka Kupala Park. Metro: Oktyabrskaya/Kupalovskaya.

Yakub Kolas Monument – The sculptural complex, dedicated to the Belarusian poet and writer Yakub Kolas, was created in 1972. The ensemble’s focal element is the poet’s bronze figure. Nearby, statues of his The Bogs and Symon the Musician oeuvres’ characters are situated. Sculptured by Z. Azgur, architected by Y.Gradov, G.Zaborsky and L.Levin. Y. Kolas Square. Metro: Ploshchad Yakuba Kolasa.

Yama (The Pit) – A monument to the victims of genocide, that was created in 2000, on the site of the former Minsk’s ghetto. Zaslavskaya street.
